on serial line or networking.
Flexibilty and conformance to the ANSI standard makes working in any UNIX environment painless. Keyboard and colours are fully configurable.
132 coloumn mode allows you to display your wide business reports on screen.
Many of our customers comment on the very high speed of our display compared with other emulators they have tried.
HOTKEY will grow with your business as it moves into new technologies. HOTNET.COM provides a TCP/IP stack under DOS that can be accessed via INT 14 interface from HOTKEY and provides socket printing.

Hotkey Socket Printing Setup UNIX

1) FTP correct lpsock onto Unix system from workstation
(check your unix version for instructions on this) ie. Dos/Windows machine. Put lpstock file in /usr/bin on unix system. Type Cd /hotkey/sh ftp>ftp hostname IP number cd/usr/bin ftp>bin (indictates mode ie. binary) ftp>put lpsock.sco ftp>bye login as root.

2) #cd/user/bin 1 filename (list file name) mv LPSOCK.sco (move file into lowercase) chmod 777 lpsock.sco (changes mode to read, write & execute for all)

3) Execute the file lpsock.sco [ENTER]

4) Test that the file is working Date | /usr/bin/lpsock.sco Ip address of pc

5) Type /usr/lib/lpsock (stops Unix spooler)

6) Type /user/lib/lpadmin (allows you to configure, remove, enable etc) Example./usr/lib/lpadmin/-p(printer name)-v/dev/null –m dumb -p printer name -v device;always/dev/null in lpsock -m model; always dump in lpsock

7) Type /usr/lib/lpsched (restarts Unix spooler)

8) Accept printer Type accept printername

9) Enable printer Type enable printername

10) Change interfaces file so print jobs can be redirected to lpsock go to interface directory. cd/usr/spool/lp/admins/lp/interfaces

11) Edit printer file name Type Vi printer filename

12) Insert open bracket at top of file ie (Insert the following at the bottom of the file above the exit)| /usr/bin/lpsock.sco 196.7.100.12
“The number is the IP address of the pc you wish to print to.
Save and exit ie “X”

13) Use lp command to print job lp command prints to default unix printer
lp –dprinter name (prints to printer you specify) To get rid of banner Always lp –dprintername –o no banner /etc/group.

14) This will now be the unix default printer

Hotkey Printer Setup DOS

1) Hotkey prints by default to lpt1 (dos default print device).

2) To print a different device an echo statement must be included in the unix interfaces file.

3) On novel networks hotkey can print to the novel print que novel uses the “capture” command under dos to remote print jobs.

Windows for Workgroups

1) Under print manager install Epson FX-100

2) Open hotkey and establish connection with unix server (all you need is
login on the screen)

3) Press the print screen button, this should
cause the printer to print the login as you see it on the screen.

4) If step 3 is successful then close hotkey, edit “hotkey.ini”in the “hotkey” directory and page down till you find the entries for the printers(lp0,lp1,lp2,lp3)

5) You should have a line (lp0=*0c:\spool.hk,default), remove the word ”default” but not the “.”.

6) Save and exit the “hotkey.ini”. repeat steps 2 & 3 to test the printing.

7) Once the following steps have been completed you can set any of your windows printers to default and hotkey will use the Epson FX-100 printer for all its print jobs.

Windows ’95 and NT4.0

1) Install local printer “Generic” under “Manufacturers”, set printer to default

2) After printer has been added, select properties for the printer then details and spool settings, select print directly to printer.

3) Open hotkey and establish connection with unix server
(all you need is login on the screen).

4) Press the print screen button, this should cause the printer to print the login as you see it on the screen.

5) If step 4 is successful then close hotkey, edit “hotkey.ini”, in the “hotkey” directory and page down till you find the entries for the printers(lp0,lp1,lp2,lp3)

6) You should have a line (lp0=*0c:\spool.hk,default), remove the word “default” but not the “,”.

7) Save and exit the “hotkey.ini”. repeat steps 3 & 4 to test the printing.

8) Once the following steps have been completed you can set any of your windows printers to default and hotkey will use the Generic printer for all its print jobs.

Hotkey & Banking sw.txt

- A definate problem exists with banking software and hotkey installations. -
Hotkey stops working.
- Error network socket creation failed.
- The windows file winsock.gll gets corrupted to such an
- extent, it has to be removed.
- Not only that but all tcp/ip addressing must be removed.
- The machine reset, tcp/ip readded..
- Then a non corrupt winsock.dll must be found and copied into the windows
   directory.
- This avoids a full windows reload ..

Socket Creation.txt

- Network socket creation error, A complaint is that this error develops when a win98 machine has version6 hotkey installed eventually this error surfaces..
- On some installations upgrading hotkey dose not solve the problem, the result is a corrupt windows file winsock.dll.
- The only current fix is to remove all tcp/ip addressing reset the computer, add tcp/ip => delete winsock.dll => copy a known working winsock.dll from an equivalent w windows machine test.
- It may be necessary to remove the networking card manually and reinstall. Start Menu Bug.txt A complaint about an older version of hotkey i.e win 3.11/3.1 version run on win 95 or win 99..
- The start menu bar data becomes corrupt. Solution delete old version load the latest version of hotkey to solve the problem.
